Sock Hop Pictures & Reminders

Hi there!

Don't forget! Tonight is "Get Acquainted Night" at all middle schools. This starts at 6:00 PM.

Also, here are some pictures to enjoy from Friday Night's Sock Hop. If you have others you would like to share with me, please email them. We will need as many pictures as we can get for the end of the year slideshow at Graduation.

Enjoy!

Updates for the week

Hello Families!
The end of MAP testing is in sight! Your kiddos have put in so much effort toward this test. I am impressed!

Here are a few reminders, updates, and things to know:

  • This FRIDAY is our Fifth Grade SOCK HOP! This is such a fun event for the kids! Please visit this link if you are still interested in donating items for the event.
  • Next MONDAY, April 30, our class will be visiting Missouri Credit Union to job shadow. We will be gone from school from 9:45-12:30.
  • Fifth grade will be hosting a "Market Day" on May 18. This is an opportunity for students to construct a business idea and set up a booth to "sell" their business to others. There will be more information coming home soon!
  • Fifth grade will be going on a Hike to RB State Park on May 8th from 11:00-2:00. Students will need a sack lunch from home or from the cafeteria. Please avoid scheduling appointments on that day if necessary.
  • If your student is interested in receiving the Literary Scholar Award at graduation and has completed all four book projects and at least 6 story arcs for other books, remember the deadline for all of that is Friday, May 4th.
  • The last day of school, May 22, is an early release day. Fifth grade has a picnic on that day at the shelter at RBE. If you are interested in volunteering at the picnic or donating items for the picnic, or you would like to help coordinate the picnic, please let me know! The time commitment is approximately 10:30-12:30.
  • If you need a link to our classroom event calendar to see what is coming up soon, please click here.
  • Lastly, we will be restarting agendas and homework next week!
Whew! If I missed anything, you will probably see it in Friday folders this week. Enjoy the rest of this week!

Wednesday Updates

Hello families!
Finally, we have some beautiful weather to enjoy this week! I hope you get a chance to hang outside while the weather is nice. Here are a few updates:

  • To sign up for donations or volunteering for the Sock Hop on April 27, please follow this link
    • Please note: The Sock Hop will be on Friday, April 27th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the RBE gym. This is a really fun event for our 5th graders! I'm looking forward to it and I know the students are, too.

We have heard that some students are hesitant about attending the event due to the belief that they need to have a "date." We have spoken about this in class, so students are aware that as 5th graders, we should not be asking another student to be our "date." We want every student to feel free to come and have fun with all their 5th grade friends!
  • Math tests need to be signed and returned before Friday. If students want to revise, that is an option for half of the credit.
  • Master of Ceremonies tryouts for Graduation will be held in Mrs. Tutt's trailer tomorrow during lunch recess.
  • Tomorrow is our school's Shakespeare's fundraiser! Consider ordering and supporting our school!
Enjoy the early release!

News Update from Trailer C!

Hello families!

We've almost made it through another week! Here are few notes for you:

  • Book projects and opinion writing will be due tomorrow when your student arrives at school (Honor's Choir kids will present book projects on Monday)
  • MAP Testing is coming right up! I will be buying some headphones/earbuds for kids that need them. They are at the dollar store. If your student needs a pair, please let me know. I will make that happen. As of right now, about half of our class is without headphones. Yikes!!
  • There will be a note in Friday folders about baby pictures. We always do something special at the end of the year for the kids, so if you would send a picture of your child as a baby/toddler, that'd be great!
  • I will be sending home a massive calendar of events for the end of the year for fifth grade. This is something that will be posted in our room as well. It would be a great thing to hang on the refrigerator! It gets so busy.
  • Next Friday we will be having counselors from Gentry meet with our students. Also note that the "Get Acquainted" night at Gentry is May 1 from 6-7:30 pm.
Thank you and enjoy the upcoming weekend!
