We have been super busy in trailer C during this short week. I look forward to meeting with each family next week! Please let me know if there is anything specific you want to discuss at your student's conference. For now, here is a quick update:
Math: We have started Unit 5 which focuses on operations with fractions. Today we will be exploring adding with mixed numbers. I am excited to get going with this unit, as it seems like parts of it are a review from previous years. Math tests for unit 4 were sent home Wednesday to be signed. Please return the test as soon as possible.
Reading & Writing: In reading we have been working on note-taking. I have noticed it is a tricky task for some students to do. I have been providing graphic organizers to help with the process. In writing, we finished our informational pieces and are going to begin opinion writing after conferences! Coming up, we have a literacy festival in Warrensburg, MO in March. Please see the yellow form sent home in Friday Folders to ensure your child can attend.
Science: We've been studying moon phases these past few weeks. Your student should have brought home a moon tracker, which is due Feb. 20. Please make sure the assignment is completed. I have provided extra time to get it done since it is in the midst of conference week, long weekends, etc. There will be a mini-quiz over identifying moon phases on Tuesday, February 13.
A few other notes:
-Safety Patrol will have a meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 13 until 3:45. Please plan pick-up accordingly.
-Yearbook forms are due by the end of the month with payment (you can also order online)

-Box tops can be turned in until the end of the month
-The Congenital Heart Defect fundraiser is over this upcoming week. Please send donations if possible!
-If you are willing and able, our classroom could use some more Germ-X and Kleenex to get through this cold season :)
-Don't forget, next week is our book fair and conference week!
