Week of Nov. 15

Hello, families! Happy fall! I enjoyed meeting with each of you this past week. Thank you for dedicating time out of your day to your child's learning. Here are some updates:

Friday Folders:
There will be Friday Folders sent home this Friday, but next week we will not have them due to the short week.

Turkey Tom:
Turkey Tom is due on Monday, Nov. 20. Students are to pick a state to research, have at least 6 facts about the state, and decorate the turkey to represent the state. Feathers can be added to the turkeys, turkeys can be cut out, and students can be as creative as they choose. There will be a "Most Creative" and "Most Informative" winner.

Book Projects:
Books projects are due Dec. 1. If your student finishes a project, it can be brought to school at any time. Please be sure to review the project with the rubric to ensure all criteria are met.

Holiday Celebrations:
As we approach the Winter Holidays, the fifth grade teachers like to do activities in class that are related to them. We will be making gingerbread houses, watching movies, creating elves, making snowflakes, and much more. In Friday folders on Dec. 1 I will be sending a calendar of events that I have planned for the kids. If there is something you prefer your child not to participate in, please let me know as soon as possible. With this calendar, I will also send out a digital link to the Sign Up Genius I will be creating for all of the materials needed for these activities to be possible.

Field Trip:
We do have an upcoming field trip the week after Thanksgiving Break. We will be visiting the RBHS planetarium on Nov. 29 from 11:30-12:30. We will not need parent volunteers for this trip. Please avoid making appointments during this time if at all possible.

It has been a great few weeks in Trailer C. There has been so much learning going on! I hope your family has a relaxing holiday break next week. Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions or concerns!
